IFSO ATC (Advanced Training Center)

Bariatric/Metabolic Simulation-Based Training
OVERVIEW
Bariatric surgery has evolved over the last decades to less invasive techniques becoming the standard of care in the present time. Laparoscopic techniques are fundamental in every bariatric procedure nowadays. However endoscopic and robotic approaches have emerged as viable options. The aim of the learning center will be to practice the basic skills to perform advanced laparoscopic procedures such as Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass, Duodenal Switch and Sadi. They will also have the possibility to perform endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic gastroplasty or intragastric balloons. Participants will have access to state-of-the-art training models using organic specimens to practice advanced laparoscopic suturing, jejuno-jejunal and gastrojejunal anastomosis, endoscopic stapling and endoscopic suturing. Also, they will have the possibility to practice robotic suturing.
ATC DIRECTORS
Camilo Boza, Ahmad Bashir, Julián Varas, Manoel Galvao, Gontrand López-Navas, Luis Gustavo Quadros, André Teixiera and Ramón Vilallonga
